major bracket
Major Bracket
In
bracketing, the second largest
underwriting group responsible for placing a certain amount of a new
issue with investors. The major bracket is the second largest, and is sometimes used interchangeably with "
mezzanine bracket." Brackets are listed in order of size on an advertisement detailing each new issue, known as the
tombstone.

The listing of the primary underwriters in a securities offering. The major bracket appears immediately under the names of the issue's comanagers.
