The technical definition includes many real estate interests rarely seen any more.Today,the term largely refers to leasehold interests.For sake of historical reference,a lessthan-freehold estate is any estate in land or improvements which is capable of determination as to its length or duration.Contrast with a freehold estate, which is inheritable or is measured by a lifespan.
