Department of Health and Human Services' Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA) with the private sector has led to development of improved
influenza vaccines in the U.S.
Among 38,564 (91.2%) patients whose test results were positive for seasonal
influenza virus by public health laboratories and for whom age data were available, 4,844 (12.6%) were aged 0-4 years; 12,508 (32.4%) were aged 5-24 years; 13,382 (34.7%) were aged 25-64 years; and 7,830 (20.3%) were aged [greater than or equal to] 65 years.
Swine
influenza is an infection caused by any one of several types of swine
influenza viruses.
Solante said two years ago, the "quadrivalent vaccine" became available, containing "antigens of both A and B strains of the
influenza virus." Prior to this, the "trivalent vaccine" was the one available and this addresses only two strains of
influenza A and one strain of

Children aged 16 years or younger hospitalized from laboratory-confirmed
influenza A or B from September 2004 to June 2013 (excluding the pandemic year 2009-2010) were identified through active surveillance of admissions at the 12 pediatric referral centers of the Canadian Immunization Monitoring Program Active (IMPACT), a national surveillance initiative.

influenza A/N1 pdm09 have been confirmed and a large number of these were from Punjab.

The Fluarix Quadrivalent vaccine will be available in time for the 20132014
influenza season, manufacturer GlaxoSmithKline said in a statement.
