ISO 4217 code for the Cuban peso. The peso is one of two official currencies in Cuba, the other being the convertible peso. The CUP has no official value outside of Cuba; to convert CUP, one must first convert it to convertible pesos, which are then exchangeable for other currencies. Most workers receive portions of their salaries in both currencies; they buy basic items like food with CUP and use convertible pesos for luxury goods.
