Bifurcate

A derogatory slang term meaning to divide one job into two jobs. For example, the director of communications position may be bifurcated into the director of internal communications and the director of external communications. The term is most common when the holder of the previous, unified position is asked to reapply for one or both of the new positions. See also: Breadcrumbing.
