Voluntary Plan Termination
The act in which an
employer ceases to sponsor a
pension plan for his/her
employees. In the United States, a voluntary plan termination may occur at any time, but the employer is required to distribute employee contributions and any applicable
gains according to the terms of the Employee Retirement Security Act.
