Secretary of Veterans Affairs
The head of the U.S. federal government department charged with serving the interests of American military veterans. Among other things, the secretary is responsible for guaranteeing
mortgages borrowed by veterans to increase veteran
homeownership. He or she is appointed by the president of the United States and confirmed by the Senate.
