The roles of plant secondary metabolites from cowpea floral structures in resistance to the flower bud
thrips. J.
After the emergence of maize seedlings, the selected plants were cut close to the ground, placed in plastic bags and taken to the laboratory, where they remained in refrigerator for at least 30 min at a temperature of 6[degrees]C in order to reduce the movement of the
thrips and prevent them to let the plants during the extraction process.
Therefore, based on the present investigation Neem extract and Neem oil are recommended against
thrips. Praveen and Dhandapani (2001) [13] reported that spraying biopesticides i.e.
Thrips affect the appearance of the fruit which reduces the commercial value of the same and thus bio-insecticides are used on a large scale on fruits.
Thrips were collected from 33 species of plants (ornamental and forage fabaceous species, along with nearby weeds), 30 of which are native (Tables 1, 2, 3 and 4).The surveys were conducted in two municipalities with typical caatinga-cerrado ecotone vegetation, Sao Luis (02[degrees]35'01" S; 44[degrees]12'33" W) and Teresina (05[degrees]05'21" S; 42[degrees]48'07" W), in 2010 (July, August and December) and 2011 (January and July), the period of planting and flowering of fabaceous plants in the region.
The mean population of
thrips recorded on leaves and flowers of rose are presented in the table.1 The population of
thrips was observed on 1st week of March, 05 (3.64 0.38/leaf) and (6.96 0.53/flower) the field temperature was observed at 12.3C min.
There are various species of
thrips, but the most common are
thrips tabaci and the western flower
thrips.
Result showed varietal differences for adult populations of dusky bugs, jassid, white flies and
thrips were significant (P<0.5) but non-significant differences for mites.
Several
thrips species have been recorded in mango culture worldwide.
