A former official of the British government responsible for business regulation, enforcement of employment law, promotion of business growth and entrepreneurship, and economic growth in sub-national regions. The position ceased to exist when the Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform became part of the Department of Business, Innovation and Skills.
