A form published by the
IRS containing information on acceptable
per diem rates for business travel in the continental United States. A
self-employed person is permitted to
write off the per diem rate for each day he/she travels on business. The rate varies based on the
cost of living of an area.

The updated rates for the regular per diem method are listed by location in Publication 1542. The standard rate for locations not listed remains at $109, with $39 attributable to meals for purposes of IRC [section] 274(n).
