Piastre de Commerce

The currency of French Indochina. It was issued in 1885 and was pegged to silver until 1920. It was then pegged to the French franc, effectively pegging it to gold. It was gradually replaced in the early 1950s by national currencies, including the Lao kip and the Cambodian riel.
