Network Distribution Center

One of several processing centers where the U.S. Postal Service sorts enormous amounts of mail. Letters and other mail are sent to network distribution centers, where they are routed to their proper destinations. This process is highly automated; machines are capable of reading even handwritten addresses. They were formerly called bulk mail centers.
