Longshoreman and Harbor Workers Act Liability

Government coverage under the Longshore Act to longshoremen injured while working. A longshoreman loads and unloads cargo from a ship. If he is injured on the job, he is entitled to approximately 2/3 of his average wage each week while he receives medical treatment. He also may receive 2/3 of his lost earnings potential or a specific amount for each injured body part. The liability applies to any longshoreman who works on boats of a certain capacity in the waters of the United States.
