Japan Federation of Economic Organizations

A former trade association for Japanese businesses. It lobbied the government (particularly the Liberal Democratic Party) for favorable legislation. It merged into the Japan Business Federation in 2002.

The Japan Federation of Economic Organizations (Keidanren) on Friday assured the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) that the region remains an important place for Japanese investment despite China's attractions.
Nobuo Tateishi, co-chairman of the Committee on Asia and Oceania of the Japan Federation of Economic Organizations (Keidanren), said Asian economies must change their strategies of relying on exports to fuel economic growth.
