Guyanese Dollar
The
currency of Guyana. Introduced in 1839, it was originally related to the Spanish dollar (which widely circulated in Caribbean colonies) and was intended to facilitate the transition from a currency based on the Dutch guilder to one based on the
British pound. It was
pegged to the pound until 1975.
