Form 1040 (Schedule SE)

Form 1040 (Schedule SE)

A form that self-employed persons and certain employees of religious organizations file with the IRS to calculate the self-employment tax they owe. One owes self-employment tax if one is in business for oneself (and therefore has no employer to pay half of one's FICA taxes) or if one works for a religious organization exempt from collecting FICA taxes. Half of the self-employment tax is tax deductible.
