Bounce Message

A message from a server to an e-mail sender that the e-mail did not reach the recipient. There may be a variety of reasons for a bounce message, ranging from an invalid e-mail address to a full mailbox to a busy server.

have announced a new feature in the Barracuda Span Firewall that can differentiate legitimate NonDelivery Receipt (NDR) messages - also known as bounce messages - from invalid NDR messages resulting from spoofing attacks.
It would reduce spam by allowing e-mail providers to bounce messages with falsified addresses.
If you're unlucky, you will also have been overloaded with bounce messages from ISPs and corporate mail servers, because your e-mail address has been used as one of Sobig's spoof identities.
