Bar Graph

A chart with rectangles (each representing a category) placed next to each other in which the length of each rectangle represents the amount of data in each category. For example, the rectangles could represent U.S. states and their sizes may correspond to their GDP.

The gap here is only 15% of the width of the bars, so that when the ratio of the horizontal and vertical axes is set at 1, the bars become so wide that they more closely resemble a histogram than a bar graph. The use of lines or crosshatches within the bars to distinguish the data for the 5 countries makes the figure look busy.
