An association of wealthy individuals who provide a great deal of capital that underwrites the activities of Lloyd's of London. For most of Lloyd's centuries-long history, these individuals (known as Names), had unlimited liability for any losses associated with being a Name. Lloyd's introduced Names with limited liability in 1994, and these have become increasingly important. The ALM provides a forum in which Names can voice ideas and lobby on behalf of Lloyd's.
