Advance Canvass
Advance Canvass
A practice in which
marketers personally visit
retailers in advance of the release of a new product. The purpose of the advance canvass is to inform the retailers about the product and, more importantly, to excite them about it so they are eager to
sell the product to consumers when it becomes available. For example, the advance canvassers may encourage the retailer to offer the product in a prominent place.
