World Meteorological Organization Also called the WMO. An international organization that sets standards and shares information on meteorology between members. Virtually every member of the United Nations (which sponsors the WMO) belongs to the organization. Among other activities, it assists in preparedness for natural disasters and attempts to improve the ability to predict dangerous weather.
