World Equity Benchmark Series (WEBS) The World Equity Benchmark Series are similar to SPDRs. WEBS trade on the AMEX, and track the Morgan Stanley Capital International (MSCI) country indexes. WEBS are available for: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, Malaysia Free, Mexico, the Netherlands, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom. WEBS An exchange-traded fund that tracks various Morgan Stanley Capital International country indices. An organization issuing WEBS owns each of the securitiestraded on an MSCI country index in approximate ratio to their market capitalization. WEBS are available for 17 MSCI indices and can be bought, sold, short-sold, traded on margin, and generally function as if they were stocks. Investors use WEBS (and indeed all exchange-traded funds) as a way to easily diversify their portfolios at relatively low cost. WEBS trade on the American Stock Exchange.
