World Confederation of Labor

A former European labor union. Founded in 1920, it originally catered to Catholic workers. It worked to improve working conditions for members, to assist women, to fight against child labor and to train members and build capacity. It merged into the International Trade Union Confederation and ceased to exist in 2006.
