Wide opening
Abnormally wide spread between the bid and asked prices of a security at the opening of a trading session.

Wide Opening
An unusually large bid-ask spread on a security at the open of an exchange. A wide opening is most common when specialists and/or market makers have not yet submitted their first bids and asks, which are usually the most competitive offers.
