Allowed Time The time during which an employee is paid while not working because of a situation beyond his/her control. Allowed time is granted more frequently to salaried employees than to wage earners,. Allowed time is usually finite; after its expiration, the employee often must begin to forgo payment. Examples of allowed time include sick time or grieving time. It is also called waiting time. It should not be confused with a waiting period. Want to thank TFD for its existence?
