Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act Informally called the WARN Act. Legislation in the United States, passed in 1988, that requires employers with more than 100 employees to provide at least 60 days notice before a mass layoff. The employer must also provide notice to local authorities, an employment transition organization and the labor union, if applicable.
