Peruvian Sol The former currency of Peru. It was introduced in 1863, replacing the Peruvian real and the Bolivian peso, which previously had circulated in different parts of the country. At first it was pegged to the French franc, then to gold, and finally to the U.S. dollar. It was plagued by hyperinflation at the end of its use, and was replaced by the inti in 1985.
