Universe of Securities |

Universe of securities A group of stocks having a common feature, such as similar outstanding market capitalization or same product line. Universe of Securities In technical analysis, a group of similar securities compared to each other. Securities may be in the same industry, or have similar market capitalizations, or may be listed on the same index. There is no rule stating what criteria can be used for creating a universe of securities; all that matters is that an analyst believes they are alike enough to be compared so that he/she may determine and analyze market trends. Testing a theory on a specific universe of securities helps technical analysts create methodologies for analyzing markets. How to thank TFD for its existence?
