U.S. Trade Representative
An official in the United States with ambassadorial rank who is responsible for conducting trade negotiations and recommending policy to the president. The trade representative reports annually on countries that do not protect intellectual property or that pursue other policies that make trades difficult. The office of the trade representative is based in Washington, D.C., with satellite offices in Geneva and Brussels.
