United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization

Also called UNESCO. An organization within the United Nations that promotes greater respect for the rule of law, freedom of the press, freedom of speech and other areas. UNESCO fosters scientific development through education and the administration of several institutes of learning. It was created in 1945 and is based in Paris.
