Secretary of State for Defence

The head of the Ministry of Defence, which is a department of the British government responsible for national defense and management of the British Armed Forces. He/she advises the government on defense policy and coordinates the actions of the Royal Navy, the British Army, and the Royal Air Force. The secretary is appointed by the monarch on the advice of the prime minister.
