Tyco International

A Swiss and American manufacturing conglomerate. Established in 1960, it initially operated primarily in semiconductor products and in research. It acquired more than 1,000 companies between the 1970s and 1990s, building itself into a health care, electronics and security company. These components separated into three companies in 2006.
