The highest rating given on bonds by bond rating agencies.

Notes:
AAA bonds are thought to have virtually no risk of default. Moody's and Standard & Poor's are the most widely used rating agencies.

AAA
The highest grade assigned to a debt obligation by a rating agency. It indicates an unusually strong capacity to pay interest and repay principal. Also called triple A.
