Transfer Deed

Transfer Deed
In England and Wales, a document affixed to the title of a piece of real estate indicating its transfer (whether by sale, gift or other means) to another party. A transfer deed must be filed with HM Land Registry. See also: Stamp duty, Transfer stamp.

If you bought the house after 1998 you will have used a form of transfer deed which states how the property is intended to be owned, either as beneficial joint tenants or tenants in common in equal shares.
Transfer Deed - Signed by the seller and sometimes pp the buyer to confirm that when the purchase price has been paid by the buyer to the seller, the seller agrees to transfer the legal title to the buyer.
If the house was owned by you as tenants in common, there will be a restriction on the title to the effect that two proprietors are required to enter into transfer deeds and you should consult a solicitor.
