Third-Party Distributor

A company that sells mutual funds on behalf of the investment company managing the funds. A third-party distributor receives a portion of the loads (or sales fees) that the mutual funds charge shareholders. This system can be beneficial if an investment company lacks the knowledge or resources to market funds directly.
