Ted Turner
An American media businessman. Born in 1938, he took over his father's advertising company when he was only 24. He used developing satellite technology to pioneer advances in cable television; he was the first person to broadcast a local station nationally. In 1980, he founded CNN, the first 24-hour news channel. He also became the largest landowner in the United States.
