Stock Exchange, Mumbai
One of the oldest stock exchanges in India. It is responsible for approximately one third of the country's trading volume. Tracing its origins to the 1830s, it is notable for the Sensex, an index of the 30 most actively traded stocks on its floor, which is considered one of the most important benchmark indices in India. The Stock Exchange, Mumbai is colloquially known as the Bombay Stock Exchange or BSE.
