Sterile Investment

An investment that does not provide dividends or interest. All gains from a sterile investment come from price appreciation. Examples of sterile investments include commodities, collectibles, and growth stocks. Sterile investments are often, but not always, high risk.

sterile investment

An investment vehicle that provides no current income. Examples of a sterile investment include a stock without a dividend, a bond that trades flat, or tangible assets such as gold, art, and baseball cards.
