Firewall

The legal barrier between banking and broker/dealer operations within a financial institution created to prevent the exchange of inside information.

Chinese Wall

Informal; the imposed lack of communication between the investment banking and brokerage services of a financial institution. The Chinese wall exists in order to prevent brokers and investment bankers working for the same company from deliberately or accidentally sharing inside information that could lead to illegal insider trading. The Chinese wall protects both the financial institution at large and the individual investment bankers and brokers.

EarthLink was the first ISP to offer a free anti-spyware tool when it launched Spyware Blocker in October of 2003.
The entire industry followed suit and many credit this change with spurring the growth of all commercial ISPs; * Legal action to stop spam and spammers -- In 1998 a $2 million judgment against Sanford Wallace of CyberPromotions was the first of EarthLink's many actions against spammers; * Pop-Up Blocker(SM) -- EarthLink was the first major ISP to offer a free pop-up ad blocking tool; * spamBlocker(SM) -- EarthLink was the first major ISP to introduce spaminator(R) and then spamBlocker, a free tool to subscribers that blocks virtually 100 percent of spam; * Spyware Blocker -- EarthLink was the first major ISP to offer its users free spyware protection to keep its customers' online experience secure and private.
Keep the inoculations up to date on your machine; spam and spyware blockers might be a good idea, too; and pay attention to where you are.
