Solidarity

In Catholic social justice theory, the idea that all persons have a right and obligation to work with each other in order to achieve the common good. That is, solidarity states that humans are not atomistic and therefore economies should not be structured in such as a way that prioritizes profits or anything else over human good. This concept has been used to criticize unregulated capitalism and the free market more generally. See also: Subsidiarity.
