Development Stage
The period that a company undergoes while it is in the process of discovering what goods and services best suit the company's needs and developing those products in order to sell them. Some companies have divisions for this kind of research, while other companies are devoted exclusively to it. Biotech companies, for example, often go through a relatively long development stage before they make and sell their products. Companies in the development stage often produce little or no revenue.
