Soccer Mom Indicator |

Soccer Mom Indicator An indicator that a current trend is ending. The theory behind the soccer mom indicator states that listening to parents at their children's soccer games shows how the economy, a security, or a sector has been performing. However, because soccer moms and dads (stereotypically) do not know much about future trends, their comments show that the opposite is about to occur. For example, if parents are expressing concern about high oil prices, this may indicate that oil prices are about to decline. See also: Lagging indicator, Behavioral economics.
