A trader, especially on an options or futures exchange with positions having a value below the value at which the Commodity Futures Trading Commission requires registration and reporting. That is, small traders are exempt from many requirements imposed upon larger traders. See also: Small Investor.

SHIKARPUR, January 18, 2011 (Balochistan Times): The founder Chairman of All Pakistan Small Traders Organization Muhammad Umar Sailya has said that protection of life and property was the prime responsibility of the Government.
Many small traders have questioned the need of allowing Chinese companies to operate in India when they do not get similar gestures that easily.
According to the report dispatched by the government departments to federal and provincial government, the dealers earned profit worth of Rs 2 billion while small traders earned profit worth of Rs 100,000 to 90,00,000.
