Slide Ruler

Slide Ruler
In auto sales, a buyer who insists on justification for each price offered. A slide ruler picks apart each new price the salesperson quotes, and may calculate taxes and other fees on his/her own. In other words, a slide ruler does not trust the numbers the dealership offers until he/she proves their accuracy himself/herself.

Led by 2LT Larry Pitts, the team was huddled together with papers, handheld computers, charts and slide rulers like a bunch of high school kids at a late-night geometry study session.
In reality, however, the combination square has six pieces, including the main body, the slide ruler, the guide pin, the adjustment knob, the spring, and the scribe (see accompanying photo).
