Sleeper Cell

Sleeper Cell
A group that lives in society and conducts no activities until it receives an order or otherwise decides to take action. A sleeper cell is associated with clandestine operations, such as espionage and terrorism.

Smadi had told the undercover agents posing as an al Qaeda sleeper cell that he would have preferred to blow the building up on September 11 but wanted to wait until the end of Ramadan, prosecutors said.
According to Reuters, the interior ministry said 12 gunmen surrendered to them in Saada on Wednesday as the old city was "cleansed" of sleeper cells.
Authorities said Hosam Maher Husein Smadi was arrested after a sting operation involving FBI agents posing as members of an Qaeda sleeper cell.
