A reduction in tuition for an educational institution or program. Scholarships may be awarded for any number of reasons, including financial hardship, academic or professional achievement, or athletic ability. Students must often fulfill certain criteria both to be awarded a scholarship and to maintain it. For example, a student awarded an academic scholarship may be required to keep a high GPA.
