Salvadoran Colon The currency of El Salvador between 1919 and 2004. It was initially pegged to the U.S. dollar, but began to float in 1931. As part of El Salvador's liberalization policy, it began to accept the dollar as legal tender in 2001 and stopped circulating the colon in 2004. See also: Dollarization.
