Securities and Exchange Board of India
An agency of the Indian Government that serves at the primary regulator of the securities trade. It drafts regulations under the parameters of its jurisdiction, creates rules to enforce these regulations, and investigates potential abuses. SEBI was created in 1988 and became a permanent body in 1992 under the SEBI Act 1992. It is overseen by eight members.

Paul Koster, Chief Executive of the DFSA said, "As the supervisor of one of the largest capital markets in the world, SEBI is an active member of the International Organisation of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) and acknowledged as one that is committed to world best practice.
SEBI is expected to probe whether there was any insider trading angle to the fraud since Raju had disclosed falsifying profits for years which would have helped inflate share prices.
But since August 2009, 11 new offer documents were filed with SEBI, suggesting that investors are now beginning to warm up to these products once again.
