Rio Trade

Informal; a high-risk trade that an investor or company makes in order to recover previous losses. An investor makes a Rio trade when he/she needs to recover losses in the shortest possible amount of time so he/she can avoid bankruptcy. The slang term comes from the image of a ruined investor buying a plane ticket to Rio de Janeiro to avoid creditors.
