See Federal Reserve District. Reserve District or District A region under the jurisdiction of one of 12 Federal Reserve Banks. Each Federal Reserve Bank has the authority to regulate member banks in their reserve districts. Every member bank is required to buy stock in its district's Federal Reserve Bank in order to support its efforts. For example, the reserve district of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City includes the states of Colorado, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Wyoming, and parts of Missouri and New Mexico. It is important to note that reserve districts are not all the same size and do not have the same population. For example, the district of the Philadelphia Federal Reserve, which only includes Delaware, southern New Jersey, and eastern Pennsylvania, is much smaller in both size and population than most other districts.
